About Grabow Law

Grabow Law was founded by Troy Grabow, a former partner at a leading international IP law firm and most recently, in-house IP and general counsel for innovative and fast growing consumer product and technology companies. Grabow Law is designed to provide the IP support that your growing company needs, as well as optional general counsel support on a range of non-IP matters such as legal disputes, product counseling, contracts, compliance, open source software, and privacy. Grabow Law offers a variety of tailored fee arrangements from subscription pricing on a monthly basis for fractional services, to flat fee or hourly arrangements for specific projects or assignments.

As in-house and outside counsel, Troy has seen firsthand how rapidly growing startups and small and medium enterprises (SMEs) have specific IP and general counsel needs but rarely have adequate internal support. Companies in these early stages routinely lack the budget or headcount to hire a full-time IP attorney or even a general counsel.

Troy's extensive government experience in IP includes serving as a law clerk at the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit and as a patent examiner at the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office. He also worked in industry as an engineer at a leading worldwide technology manufacturer after receiving his engineering degree.

With 20+ years of government, law firm, and in-house counsel experience, we provide specialized guidance in general legal matters and intellectual property on a part-time basis, tailored to meet your business needs, while you avoid the cost and commitment of a full-time legal hire.

If you are curious to learn more about my journey in the legal profession and intellectual property law over the last 20+ years, head over to my LinkedIn profile for a comprehensive dive into my career and professional milestones.

Beyond work, I stay engaged in numerous local and national bar associations, such as the American Intellectual Property Law Association. I've had the honor of chairing multiple committees and serving on the AIPLA Board of Directors, and most recently the Amicus Committee. Additionally, I am deeply passionate about mentoring and fostering diversity in the IP and legal profession, actively serving as a formal and informal mentor to diverse law students and junior attorneys. Apart from these commitments, I am also actively involved with various local community organizations.

On a personal note, I reside on the Peninsula in the beautiful San Francisco Bay area with my wife and son. Since relocating from the East Coast when I transitioned to an in-house role, we've been embracing all of the outdoor adventures that California has to offer. When not spending quality time with the family, you might catch me breaking a sweat at my favorite Basecamp Fitness class or rushing the net in a game of tennis or pickleball at a local court.
